Mrs. Sandy Kratzer
- B.A.--Concordia-River Forest, Illinois
Mrs. Sandy Kratzer was the first of three children born to Edward and Marion Einem in Appleton, Wisconsin. She spent most of her grade school and high school years living in the Chicago area. She then attended Concordia Teachers’ College in River Forest, Illinois, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education.
Sandy began her teaching career at St. Thomas Lutheran School in Cleveland, Ohio, where she taught 2nd and 3rd grades. The following year she moved to Detroit and taught 3rd grade at St. Paul, Royal Oak. It was there she became re-acquainted with Mike Kratzer whom she had known in college and who was teaching 6th grade at the same school. They were married on March 4, 1978.
A year and a half later they moved to Ocala, Florida, to serve at St. John Lutheran Elementary and High School. Sandy taught 2nd and 4th grades there for the next four years and could often be seen riding around town on her moped enjoying the Florida sunshine.
In 1983 Mike and Sandy moved to St. Louis where Sandy began teaching 3rd grade at Grace Chapel Lutheran School. Three years later she left full-time classroom teaching to be a mom to daughter, Jodi. Since then Sandy has served in several different areas at Grace Chapel, including part-time teacher, church office assistant, interim principal, program coordinator, and music teacher. She enjoys being active in a variety of ministries and is thankful to be able to work side-by-side with the many wonderful people who selflessly give of their time and talents in service to the Lord at Grace Chapel.
Sandy’s hobbies include reading, walking the family’s two dogs, Abby and Brownie, doing yardwork, travelling, and scrap-booking. Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 43:1
