Reverend John Greene

The Reverend John Greene grew up near the north-central Florida town of Ocala, where he graduated from St. John Lutheran High School. Rev. Greene earned his B.A. from Concordia University, Austin, Texas and also has earned a Masters in Divinity from Concordia Seminary--St. Louis, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Western Carolina University, in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Upon graduation from Seminary, Rev. Greene served for 12 years as a parish pastor in western North Carolina. Then he served as a middle school teacher in the public schools of Haywood County, North Carolina for 7 years before moving to Saint Louis (and Grace Chapel) in the summer of 2013.

At Grace Chapel Reverend Greene teaches 6th through 8th grade science, 6th and 7th  grade math, Religion and Health. He also serve as Athletic Director and head 7th and 8th grade Boys’ Basketball Coach. In his free time he is a musician, playing organ, bass, piano and guitar. He also enjoys running, and watching a variety of sports, as well as listening to shortwave radio. Rev. Greene has a 28 year old son, Adam, who presently lives in St. Louis where he is enrolled as a 2nd year student in the UMSL-School of Optometry. In 2013 Rev. Greene married his college sweetheart Nancy (Adams) who has worked at Concordia Publishing House for 31 years, the past 19 of those years as a music editor.

Rev. Greene’s favorite Bible passage is Jeremiah 29:11-12, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”
